F1 2011 is a new console game being developed around the 2011 Formula One season. It will be released on September 23rd 2011 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows platforms. It will also be coming out on Sony's NGP and the Nintendo 3DS. The release dates for these versions will be announced at a later date.

F1 2011 is again being made by Codemasters and will again feature all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship.

I suspect that F1 2011 will again dissapoint hardcore sim racers as Codemasters will as usual be aiming for the mass market to make as much cash as quickly as they possibly can, as believe it or not that is the aim in our capitalist society. I'm sure the game will look very good, but for me the problem is that I don't really care what the game looks like, it's all about how it drives - if I can drive it like I stole it then I will be very happy. Unfortunately in F1 2010 to me it felt like their where invisible entry points to the corners, if you entered them, you got through the corner, if you didn't enter in the designated zone you failed to make it through the corner, even if you had the ability of Sebastien Vettel. I want an F1 game where I really feel like I am driving. If I give it too many beans off of the start line then I want to spin, if I then lack the talent to control the spin I want to hit the wall, break my car and it be race over, however, I doubt this will be Codemasters aim, which is a real shame in my opinion.

They'll throw in a few good looking aspects to the F1 xbox 360 game like "visual rain" rather than actual rain that properly affects grip levels, so you have to drive off line on the karting line, but I guess that's not what the kids want these days, they want easy to drive new console games, rather than an all out F1 sim.

Codemasters have said they wil include full length races for the hardcore console gamer, but they will also make it possible to scale down the races to make them shorter, but tyre wear and pit stops would have to be factored in as they are crucial to Formula One.

In F1 2011 players will be challenged to ‘Be the driver, live the life, go compete’, with wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements on and off track and vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer components. F1 2011 will feature all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the highly anticipated 2011 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, including the current FIA FORMULA ONE DRIVERS’ WORLD CHAMPION Sebastian Vettel. The 2011 season also sees the debut of the 2011 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX OF INDIA at Delhi’s Jaypee International Race Circuit and the return of the iconic Nürburgring to the calendar.

In production at Codemasters Studios Birmingham, F1 2011 is being developed using the EGO Game Technology Platform, Codemasters’ proprietary tech that powered the critically acclaimed, 2 million-plus selling F1 2010™, GRID and currently driving DiRT 3.
