XBox 360 Games Console - Splinter Cell Conviction
Sam Fisher is back and this time he is bad...
Splinter Cell Conviction.
Splinter Cell Conviction
It would seem as though this new console game has been in development on the XBox 360 for years as it was initially announced in May 2007! I remember downloading
a demo video of this game in pre-production when it looked a bit pixelly over a year ago and the graphics looked good then,
now they just look sensational. The very first time I saw this new console game I knew it had promise. It looked as though
you could inter-act with everything you could see. I remember watching a fight scene between the main character and 2 policemen.
Sam Fisher threw a policeman into a table and chairs and they fell over, he then picked up a chair and used it to battle with
the police officer. Being able to interact properly within a game world is important as it adds to the overall gameplay and realism, which
is what console game players want.
Co-op mode on this new console game looks like it could work very well, but as usual it will depend upon who you play with!
There will be a new Mark & Execute system which will let you mark and prioritize people or objects (including surrounding
environment objects) to interact with so you can plan and execute your attacks more efficiently. There is also a new system called
Last Known Position which means enemies or people will spot you but only know your last position so if you are clever you can use
this to your advantage to flank your opponent.
This time Sam Fisher is playing the bad guy after gaming's most dangerous spy is pissed off with corruption and the death of his daughter.
Splinter Cell Conviction Review
I first saw a video of Conviction, which I think was taken from an E3
event, which I donwloaded via XBox Live. It now seems like over 3
years or so since that initial video release was made available. At
the time the game looked very similar to what it does now, but the
graphics were a lot fuzzier, almost as if looking through CCTV
cameras. However, after a lifetime of waiting the new console game is now here.
In my opinion it is one of the best games I have played on the XBox
360. I played the previous Splinter Cell game and ended up selling it
because it was just too stealthy for my liking. However, Conviction
allows you to approach with a stealthy approach or to go in all guns
blazing or a combination of the two. You can play the game the way
you want to, which is all you can ask of a computer game really.
There is nothing worse that being dictated to by the game you spend
your own money on, if I wanted to dictate then I would probably send
my resume via post to Kim Jong-il.
I have completed the new console game Splinter Cell Conviction on the
realistic setting and it was a really enjoyable experience. What I
really enjoyed about the single player game was that when the shit hit
the fan, it really left you up shit creak without a paddle. When you
thought things out mythodically then the game was fairly straight
forward, but once I got a little bit of confidence I would usually try
something a little too risky and run out of talent half-way through
executing my manouvre.
Graphically I can't fault the game (playing on 40" Samsung LE40A656
via HDMI), I also really like the fact that when you are hidden the
graphics are black and white to emphasis your hidden status. The
controls seem fairly natural especially after a few minutes (playing
on a XBox 360 wireless pad).
I have only played Conviction multiplayer on split screen, so as of
yet I can't comment about online play, but the two player action was
great fun in my opinion. With the addition of downloadable content
available via the XBox Live Marketplace this also adds more
playability and maps. As of yet I have not made any negative comments
about the game, as to be honest I can really find any. Sometimes when
climbing on a pipe the controls reverse a bit, bit that is only for a
split second and it's not that much of a dilema. You know a game is
good when once you have completed it, you play through it again, when
you have other games you could play. The only thing that stops me
playing the game all the time on my XBox 360 is the fact that I have a
passion for driving games and so play Race Pro (played
on the Microsoft XBox 360 Official Steering Wheel) most of the time!
There might be some people that would say that the game is too easy or
that the "mark & execute" system makes things too easy, but I would
disagree. You are playing a character who is a
spy/superhero/assassin/ninja/... so you see these people in your
periforal vision and be able to "mark" their locations and then
"execute" them later, maybe not with quite the same accuracy/speed as
in the game but still it's a game. If you really object to the mark
and execute system then you can always NOT use it...
Splinter Cell fans pay attention, we have valuable intel for you. The first add-on pack for Tom Clancy's Splinter
Cell Conviction™ has arrived.
Deniable Ops: Insurgency introduces four all-new maps to be enjoyed solo or in all multiplayer modes (Hunter, Survival,
Infiltration and Face-Off), complete with new achievement points to be unlocked. With its Story mode featuring a rogue Sam
Fisher, and suite of terrific co-op and multiplayer modes, Splinter Cell Conviction just got better.
Deniable Ops: Insurgency is available now on Xbox LIVE.
